PRINCE2 Risk Management (M_o_R) Courses
Risk is uncertainty that can have a positive or negative effect on objectives. Below are our available courses for managing risk in your business, helping you to effectively protect value.
The M_o_R 4 Practitioner course has no prerequisites, so there's no need to take the foundation course and exam first. Our accredited practitioner training course teaches you how to maximise value by managing risk effectively and, of course, helps you pass the certification exam. If you prefer a slightly simpler method, and only require a foundation qualification, our accredited foundation training course covers M_o_R 3.
If you are unsure which course is the best fit for your needs, don’t hesitate to contact our team to find out more about PRINCE2 Risk Management courses.

PRINCE2 Risk Management
For PRINCE2 risk management, there are three fundamental aspects:
- Risk analysis - In this step, any risks are identified, evaluated, and a suitable response is considered. The most appropriate solution is then selected.
- Risk management - The chosen solution is then included in the relevant plan, which is subsequently approved and the solution is implemented.
- Monitoring - The effectiveness of the risk management activity must then be monitored to evaluate how effective it is, and the status of the risk must be reported.
Risk management is an important aspect for analysing the cost and operational impact of any risks that can occur for businesses, helping that organisation to protect value.
Below are the relevant timeframes for completing each PRINCE2 risk management course we offer.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner - The eLearning course duration is 12 hours, and the exam duration is 135 minutes.
- PRINCE2 Foundation - The eLearning course accounts for 14 hours, and the exam lasts for 60 minutes.
The Management of Risk (M_o_R) framework was originally developed in 2002 with the main intention being to assist organisations in assessing risks associated with decision making. Over time, this framework has developed and become globally known, and is recognised in organisations in the private, public and government sectors.
The PRINCE2 brand, known for project management, was then elevated to encompass programme, portfolio, risk and PMO management, by PeopleCert in 2024.
Depending on the qualification you require, you should either consider the practitioner or foundation level certification. There are no prerequisites for completing the M_o_R Practitioner course.
If you wish to achieve the PRINCE2 Expert designation, you will need M_o_R 4 Practitioner, so you should choose that. However, if you only require a foundation level certificate, then consider booking on for the M_o_R 3 foundation course.
